Happy 2011! I hope everyone had a great start to the new year. Just wanted to show two type treatments I’m really loving…

I like the thread texture treatment they did with the font Balearic Thread. Very energetic and modern.

This font is called OTTO and it gives me the feeling of sexy, futuristic stilettos and an adventurous night ahead. Very elegant. Created by design studio Non-Format.

So… big news for me… After working as an art director and graphic designer at my current company for almost five years, I put in my two weeks notice on Friday. It is time for new challenges and adventures; I am pursuing freelance design. I am really excited about future prospects and already have some interesting projects in the works. The next couple of weeks few months will be crazy as I transition into a new chapter of my life and may disappear for a moment. But I’m hoping one of the things I can get back to is working on my blog; this site needs a redesign!

Here’s a toast to making career moves and aiming for creative and personal fulfillment. Gotta be true to self. I’m ecstatic about this new change in my life; the possibilities are endless… Ready, set, GO!!

Just want to wish you a fantastic holiday! I know it’s been a while, but hope everyone’s been well. A corny, silly greeting from me, Beegi and Merme (the cat) via JibJab.

For more shits and giggles, here’s another clip of Merme. I think we were more excited for Merme’s holiday gift than he was. He just sat there staring at it like it was bad art. Then, when he finally paid attention to it…

I’m off to see the relatives in Jersey tomorrow. But for today, Beegi and I are hanging out, relaxing, doing laundry and enjoying a day off. Sounds boring, but it’s GREAT. My friend Rob sent me a delightful self-designed holiday card that includes a cd mix of funk/soul Christmas tunes and festive drink recipes. So we tried out the Partridge in a Pear Tree, a pear-flavored cocktail, with Billie Holiday and James Brown singing holiday standards in the background.

I’m sure Rob would want you to have a good time, so I’m sharing one of his recipes with you:

• 1-1/2 oz. pear vodka
• 1/2 oz. lemon juice
• 1/2 oz. simple syrup (or agave nectar)
• champagne

Rosemary, cut into 1-1/2 inch sprigs, & place 1 rosemary sprig in each glass. Combine vodka, lemon juice and simple syrup (or agave) in a shaker over ice. Shake well and strain over rosemary. Top with champagne. Serve and Enjoy!

Whoops, didn’t take any photos of the drinks themselves, but trust me, it was delicious!

A year ago, I started shonshon8 to express my love for fashion, share design that excites me and use the blog as an experimental creative platform. At first, it was a challenging project—though I can be outspoken and passionate, I am also an introverted, shy and private person by nature. The thought of putting my photos online was actually terrifying! However, through blogging, I’ve learned to be more open about who I am, not to mention, having complete, artistic freedom is the ultimate dream!

In celebration of my 1 year blog anniversary, here are my top 8 fashion posts.

1. My first post ever!

2. Impromptu photo shoot using my IKEA wardrobe as a backdrop.

3. I really LOVE this vintage leopard print hood.

A year later, blogging continues to be a big passion of mine. That said, I don’t always have as much time as I’d like to post new content! Sometimes I post more, other times my work (I’m an art director and stylist) keeps me up until 4 in the morning, so I have to put it on the backburner. But I appreciate you readers checking back and I’m always active on facebook and twitter. Let’s just say I’m currently finetuning my life so I can focus on what I REALLY want to do; eventually there will be more time for blogging.

P.S. For my blog’s birthday, it would be a fantastic gift if you could let friends know about Feel free to use any of those share buttons below. 😉

Fellow bloggers, please leave your blog link in the comments section; if I haven’t already seen your blog, I’d love to check it out. Let’s start a dialogue. Thanks!
